Pinellas County Sheriff Department Awards Grant to Black Pearls

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Advisory Board Community Grant Program funds local initiatives which serve our
youth and provide a service or fulfill a need.

The Black Pearls were blessed to be a 2019 Recipient.  These funds will be utilized to continue to promote the community outreach of the Black Pearls.

Some of their recent projects  supplying paper goods for All Children's Ronald McDonald House  and  Annual Young Women's Conference Essay Contest.

Heartfelt thanks to our President Thelma Bruce and to Sandra Gibson and the Black Pearl Mentors for an outstanding job.  Special thanks to the Pinellas County Sheriffs Advisory Board for awarding us this grant.

Black Pearls  Spring Tea

Mother/Daughter Tea

Each year the Black Pearls host an annual tea.

The tea this year honored Mothers and Daughters and Aunts and Sisters who stood in for Mothers.  The

young ladies showed off their social graces with the proper etiquitte befitting a high noon tea.

The tea was held at the Empath Health Center which was transformed into a regal venue full of floral arrangements, decorations and tea pots and tea cups.

Apostle Clarice Pennington was the keynote speaker. Entertainment was provided by members of the Black Pearls.  

The St Petersburg Metropolitan Section members attended the tea in grand fashion.

Black Pearls  3rd Annual

Young Women's Conference

As a part of the 2019, 3rd Annual Young Women's Conference the Black Pearls have orchestrated a special project for their annual conference.

The Literacy Initiative is being used as a tool to motivate youth to write an essay about a single women who is very dear to them.  Any adult female of their choice; mother, sister, aunt, cousin, teacher, etc.  The student can enter someone into the Black Pearls “Salute to Most Admired Women” Essay Contest by writing a  ONE PAGE essay describing why you think that special someone should be called a “Most Admired” Adult Woman".

Black Pearls Pay Tribute to Legendary Women

Black History Performance 

Renditions of NCNW History ~  The St. Petersburg Metropolitan Section of the  Black Pearls participated in a thought provoking performance of the matriachs  of the National Council of Negro Women, Incorporated.  The young ladies were invited to perform for the residents in the beatifully landscaped Westminster Suncoast Senior Lifestyle Campus.  The performances were held in the Quak Theatre which is equipped with the latest theatrical equipment.

The Pearls under the direction of their director, Ms. Sandra Gibson performed for an audience of over 50 people with readings, poetry and dance.  Along with the performances, a Civil Rights documentary was aired and our own SPMS President Thelma Bruce provided the closing remarks.

It was a Really Great Show!  The Black Pearls Advisors and NCNW members attended
